It’s almost time to join the next series of bakers in the tent for the Great British Bake Off (GBBO)! Yeay!

But no one knows when yet. Boo. Going off the series in 2021, it’ likely to be the end of next month.

So if, like us, you can’t wait that long for a bit of culinary competition, our resident Star Bakers across ASC have already been providing the edible excitement!

Activities Coordinator, Anne Foulds set the first round of their Bake Off Challenge to make a Victoria Sponge…  Too simple you may think? But making a feather-light sponge cake can be one of the most tricky baking challenges. A Victoria Sandwich cake is notoriously temperamental!

Domestic Workers, Rebecca from Campsie, Jennifer from Orchard Court, and Anne took on the enviable, if difficult, task of tasting and judging the competition.

And the Winners were…

In 1st place ASC Campsie with their individual Victoria Sponges.
2nd place was Orchard Court.
And 3rd, The Grange and Dalguise.

Well done everyone!

The next challenge is already in the planning – a No Bake Traybake on 23 September. We think there should be extra judges for tasting this time around!
