This week, our brilliant ASC Campus proudly joined people and organisations across the country in celebrating Scottish Learning Disability Week.

Guided by this year’s theme, “I Am Here… To Be Seen,” our residents and team members reflected on positive change and built meaningful connections. Throughout the week, everyone came together to celebrate their individuality, share experiences and explore what inclusion means to them.

The week began with conversations about inclusion and belonging. Everyone had the chance to share their thoughts and take part in creative activities that encouraged everyone to express themselves.

Storytelling played a key role throughout the week. Our residents reflected on personal experiences, talked about what matters most to them and shared the positive changes they have seen in their lives. They also discussed the changes they would like to see in the future.

These conversations helped everyone learn from one another and better understand different perspectives.

Connection remained at the heart of the celebrations. During our Conversation Café sessions, residents gathered around the table to share ideas, discuss inclusion and explore ways they can support one another.

Using discussion prompts and pledge cards, everyone had the opportunity to share what learning disability week means for them as well as the wider team at ASC. Every voice mattered and every opinion was valued.

A celebration of uniqueness and talent.

The week also shone a spotlight on the strengths and achievements of our talented residents. Through creative activities, artwork, and sharing of hobbies, they proudly showcased what makes them unique.

These moments celebrated the diverse skills, interests and personalities that make the ASC Campus community so special.

As the week came to a close, our residents and team reflected on everything they had learned and experienced. They completed personal pledges and explored how we can continue promoting inclusion throughout the year.

Scottish Learning Disability Week gave everyone the chance to share their voices, celebrate who they are and highlight the importance of creating communities where everyone feels valued and included.

Although the week has come to an end, the conversations, connections and commitments made at our ASC Campus will continue to inspire positive change.
