ASC service users having a ball at college

Service users at ASC have been getting their football fix thanks to an ongoing partnership with a local college.

The link-up with Perth College UHI kicked off in 2019, and since then many service users have enjoyed the benefits of various courses.

This year, Josh, Marcus and Liam achieved success in beginner’s football.

College lecturer Stephen Downes praised Liam’s “outlook and skillset”, naming him vice-captain of the team, while he hailed Marcus’s “cheerful nature that transfers to those he spends time with”.

Meanwhile, he also spoke highly of Josh’s sense of humour, which “adds greatly to the class dynamic”.

Away from the football pitch, along with fellow service user, Robert, they also all achieved ILS in Oral Hygiene.

The quartet will return to the college next term along with four more ASC service users, where they will progress to intermediate football, develop their ILS and learn about wildlife and the environment.

Anne Foulds, Activities Coordinator at ASC, said: “I have been proud to support the service users at ASC over the last four years with their college activities.

“I have seen each of them progress and blossom in their social skills.

“We have had the most amazing support from Steve, and I’m looking forward to continuing next year.”
